When you see who is playing here, you think subtle, right? Of course you don't. And the music is not. But then again, it is not a mess by any means. This band seems to have played together years. All have in the past and currently. The songs are a collection of some fusion hits and some Dream Theater tunes that featured Derek. Get this for the power and musicianship. Portnoy bangs away and keeps a beat as well as ever. Derek is always on fire. Tony takes over the guitar playing from the original artists in a respectful way. (Marvel at "The Pump).

Sheehan is still one of the best in the business. Almost the lead instrument on this release is his bass.
Get this double album. You will love it from the opening lick to the last.

It seems more often lately that the "Supergroup" is a PR-spun creation (often recorded separately - rather than all together) in the hope that CD's and Downloads will keep paying the bills. PSMS Live at Zepp is NOT! The real proof is when you bring together the top talent in the genre and show how they do in a live environment. Certainly any of these artists could perform a show as a unique and individual artist (and have) - but together is where the real magic takes over.
Portnoys Comp Portnoy Sheehan MacAlpine Sherinian (Live At Zepp Tokyo, Japan/2012)
This effort has motivated me to join them on the ProgNation as Sea Cruise - and I booked a cabin for my adult son to join me. I can't wait to see the "proof" live and in person - and will enjoy every minute of this recording in anticipation of the Cruise/Show in February of next year. If you are a fan individually of Portnoy, Sheehan, MacAlpine or Sherinian - than don't miss the opportunity to own this collective work (and experience some of the Magic)!

Flying as an airline passenger is an often memorable experience, but there are times where the taste is memorable for all the wrong reasons: flight delays, poor service, bad food, lost luggage, or any of a whole of other problems that result in a valuable inconvenience or financial loss for the passenger. If you taste this kind of question with your airline, you may want to deal with it by lodging a complaint with the airline or to one of the authorities that oversee air transportation. If you complain, you want to do it in a way that gives you the best opportunity of either getting payment or getting your message heard.

Dealing with a question Immediately

Whenever you can identify a question on the spot, your best option will usually be to bring it to the airline's concentration and give them a opportunity to decide the issue. If you are at the airport, then taste the airline's customer service representatives, a manager, or some other laborer who has the authority to immediately take care of your problem. If you are in flight, then taste the head flight attendant.

For example, if you are involuntarily bumped from your flight due to overbooking, you are typically eligible for some kind of payment from the airline. If the airline makes an offer that is acceptable, take it. If not, make a counter offer. If you and the airline can't come to an bargain on the counter offer, then everybody is happy. If can't be resolved on the spot, you should start document your experience, regain relevant information from the airline, and get ready to file a formal complaint with the airline.

Understand Why You Are Complaining

After you have gathered information about your situation, but before you make that phone call or write that letter, you should take a bit of time rejoinder some basic questions about your singular circumstances:

* Why you are complaining?

* What situation caused you to complain?

* What habitancy or organizations played a role in that situation?

* What are the things that you want to happen that will address the complaint?

* What should you reasonably expect as an outcome?

It may seem obvious to you why you want to complain and what you want to have happen, but you have to be very exact in a complaint to give yourself the best opportunity of success. If you are not able to come up with adequate relevant details, it would be difficult for even a well meaning airline to be able to rejoinder appropriately. One must also be reasonable when it comes to the imaginable outcome of your complaint. You should only expect payment if the airline is obligated to do so. It is beyond the scope of this narrative to relate every kind of situation that may obligate the airline to compensate you. However, following the advice in this narrative will likely put you in a position to know if your complaint may also lead to some kind of compensation.

Complaining Basics

Taking the time to compare your situation at the beginning will make the rest of the complaint process as smooth as possible. That complaint process can be practically broken down into the following sets of tasks:

* Writing down the facts of the situation,

* comprehension either you have a speculate to expect a response or payment as a result of your complaint, and

* Filing the complaint in the places where it can do the most good.

Writing Down the Relevant Details

If at all possible, you should take notes as soon as inherent after you comprehend you are in a situation where you may want to complain to the airline. Much of the basic information, such as your flight number, or airport, is likely in your trip records. The most foremost details are the ones that directly relevant to your situation. For example, if you were given substandard service by a flight attendant, that information may be the name of a singular flight attendant. If your question were a piece of checked luggage that was lost, then you would need any documentation that was associated with that lost bag.

One thing to remember is that you should stick to the factual, relevant, and verifiable information associated with your complaint. For example, claiming that a gate agent was, rude, and expensed you unnecessarily for an extra checked bag may be factual and verifiable, but discussing the inappropriate and rude behavior is not relevant if your goal is to be compensated for an inappropriate baggage charge.

Your efforts to document what happen will help you to address two fundamental issues:

1. What is your exact complaint.

2. What do you expect the airline to do about it.

Understand Your bargain with the Airline

When you buy a ticket, you and the airline have entered into a contract that covers many dissimilar situations that you may face during a flight, including situations that are base sources of complaints such as cancelled fights and lost luggage. No matter what the source of your complaint may be, you should make an exertion to get from your airline documentation that provides the details of the bargain that they have with you. This is typically available from the gate agent or customer service office at the airport. While it may not rejoinder all of your questions, it may tell you key bits of information such as what exact aspects of the bargain may have not been met or the address where you may send your complaint.

Each airline has a exact set of guidelines that are used for situations such as flight delays, overbookings, and lost or damaged luggage. In the U.S., airlines are legally obligated to supply exact relief if you are involuntarily bumped from a flight or if your luggage is lost or damaged. In practically all other situations, the airline may supply compensation, but they are not required to do so.

Keep in mind that if your complaint involves a inherent civil or criminal lawsuit, that you will likely have to get pro legal advice to go forward. If it does not rise to that level, then you will likely be able to deal directly with the airline.

Filing a Formal Complaint

If immediate relief is not possible, then the complaint will likely take days or weeks to decide since you will likely be development a formal taste with the airline. Be sure to keep track of any notes that you have made, all of your trip documents (ticket receipts, baggage check stubs, boarding passes, etc.), as well as receipts for any out-of-pocket expenses that you incurred. Unless you are required to do otherwise, you should only send copies of your former documents when you file your complaint.

While you may taste one or more airline officials by phone, your opportunity of getting any kind of resolution goes way up if you rely on written transportation as your former means of dealing with the airline. The following guidelines will also help to get the message over more effectively:

* If you send either a letter or an email, make sure that your message includes all available options for contacting you (phone number, fax number, email address, bodily mailing address, etc.).

* Limit your introductory message to maximum one page (roughly 250 words).

* consist of all of the relevant information that the airline would need to understand your problem.

* If you incurred expenses or monetary losses, state the whole that you expect to be reimbursed.

* Be exact about the outcome that you want (reimbursement, other compensation, letter of apology, etc.).

* Keep your letter businesslike in tone.

* Focus on the facts, and supply exact information like dates, names, and flight numbers.

* If necessary, send copies of tickets, receipts, or other documents to back up your claim.

* consist of the names of any employees who were rude or made things worse, as well as whatever who might have been especially helpful.

* Be reasonable in any demand that you may make

If you result these recommend guidelines, the airline will probably treat your complaint seriously. Your written transportation with the airline will help the airline to decide what caused your problem, and may help the airline to forestall the same problems from happening to others.

Contacting the U.S. Branch of Transportation

If your complaint complicated a U.S. Airline or a non-Us airline operating in the United States, you may want to submit your complaint with the U.S. Branch of transportation (Dot). You can file a formal complaint in one of the following ways:

* Fill out the online complaint form available at the AirSafe.com complaint page at [http://complain.airsafe.org] and have the AirSafe.com Foundation send your complaint it to the Dot.

* Call the Aviation buyer safety Branch at 202-366-0511 to narrative your complaint.

* Use an online form in case, granted by the Aviation buyer safety Branch at http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/escomplaint/es.cfm Note that the Dot form requests personal information that the AirSafe.com form does not ask. Specifically, the Dot form asks either you are a passenger, relative of a passenger, a lawyer acting on profit of a client, or a trip agency. The AirSafe.com form makes no such distinctions and does not invite this kind of personal information.

* Mail a written complaint to the following address:

Aviation buyer safety Division, C-75

U.S. Branch of Transportation

1200 New Jersey Ave., Se

Washington, D.C. 20590

These forwarded complaints are not used by the Dot to mediate personel disputes, but they are used by the Dot as a basis for rulemaking, legislation and media reports. In one of the Dot reports, the monthly Air trip buyer Report, major U.S. Airlines are ranked by several measures, including by complaint category. Normally, the Dot does not send any response to buyer complaint inputs. The Dot may advise that a narrative be forwarded either to the Faa for aviation safety matters, or to the transportation safety administration (Tsa) for safety issues.

Safety Complaints

When you want to point out a exact situation that you believe threatens the safety of passengers, crew, or other members of the public, it is foremost that you make the suitable authority aware of this situation. In the United States, that authority is the Federal Aviation Administration. For safety issues associated to U.S. Airports, to any aircraft flying in the U.S., or to U.S. Registered aircraft flying everywhere in the world, taste the Faa at:

Assistant Administrator for theory safety Asy-100

Federal Aviation Administration

800 Independence Avenue, S.W.

Washington, D.C. 20591

You can also taste the Faa by phone at 866-Tell-Faa (1-866-835-5322).

Security Complaints to the Tsa

In the U.S., the transportation safety administration is responsible for screening passengers and baggage on U.S. Flights, including checked baggage. If your complaint involves some part of the safety process or if you speculate that a Tsa representative is responsible for the loss or damage of an item, there are exact procedures that you will have to follow. The relevant Tsa forms are available from the Tsa or from the AirSafe.com complaint page mentioned earlier.

Once you have completed the forms, keep a copy for your records and mail the claim to the address indicated on the claim form. You may direct other complaints and comments to the Tsa taste center at 866-289-9673.

Nathaniel Ayers is a man who attended Julliard as a young person, but never completed his education. He was overcome by the pressure and competition at Julliard and started receiving bad grades. While he was failing school, every person still recognized that he had world-class talent, but he just could not focus and find order in his life.

Eventually, Nathaniel was forced to drop out of school by his own lack of reasoning stability, and ended up living on the street. He found his way to Los Angeles and placed there due to the fact that a sculpture of Beethoven was created in one of the city's parks. Nathaniel made his way colse to the city and often played his dilapidated violin in a colse to tunnel which in case, granted him with adequate acoustics.

One day, Steve Lopez crossed paths with Nathaniel Ayers. Lopez was intrigued by Nathaniel, and as a journalist for the Los Angeles Times, saw Nathaniel as his next column. He began asking Nathaniel questions and interviewing him, and building a bond. Lopez learned about Nathaniel's past and how he in fact did attend Julliard as a world-class musician. The story kept getting better, and Lopez published a series of articles to curious readers about the life of Ayers.

Lopez never incredible the reaction that came from publishing his articles. Citizen replied with the need for more data on Nathaniel's life, and even started sending in musical instruments for him to play. Nathaniel had been playing an awful two-string violin since he did not have the money to buy a new instrument or even strings. He received new violins and a new bass; the instrument he had longed for since leaving Julliard.

However, Ayers could not lug the instruments colse to with him in the streets due to the fact that he could be mugged or have the instruments stolen while sleeping. Therefore, Lopez and Ayers agreed that the instruments could be stored at a local extra needs premise where Ayers could go any time he wanted to play and hopefully receive help. Lopez realized that Ayers had reasoning disability and insecurities and if Ayers would spend time at the premise playing his violins and bass, he may decide to stay in one of the free apartments and get treated for his extra needs.

However, Nathaniel was stubborn and did not trust anyone. He did not agree that he needed help and was perfectly article living on the streets and playing his violin in the tunnel. After visiting the premise more, he began to let his guard down and even started staying in his apartment. Lopez even contacts some of Ayers' old friends and family, and sets up visitation with him in his apartment in Los Angeles' Skid Row area.

Through several reasoning breakdowns and stresses in their relationship, Ayers and Lopez learn to trust and understand each other in ways they never expected. Lopez learns that Nathaniel has extra needs and he cannot expect to convert him over night. Ayers learns that every person is not out to get him, and that Citizen in fact can be trusted. They both learn that Nathaniel is still an breathtaking musician, and needs music in his life to stay content.

In the end, Nathaniel gains a friend in Steve Lopez, becomes acquainted with old friends who are expert musicians, and has a safe place to live. How to retort to customer Complaints

How to retort to customer Complaints

If you are in business, you will eventually offend a customer, or at least fail to meet the customer's expectations. Now that the damage is done, what is the most productive way to deal with the complaint and keep the customer?

How to retort to customer Complaints

How to retort to customer Complaints

How to retort to customer Complaints

Step 1. Recognize with the customer. Never take a buyer complaint Lightly. Rather, do your homework and make sure that the buyer understands that you assuredly care and that you want to do the right thing. Doing the right thing, however, doesn't all the time mean giving customers what they want; it means production sure you do your best to get both sides of the story and acknowledge appropriately.

One of the best ways to Recognize with a buyer is to ask yourself, "If this had happened to me, how would I feel? What would I think the right thing to do would be?" If you're just with your answers, and you acknowledge accordingly, the odds heighten that your buyer will also.

Step 2: acknowledge the customer's point of view. Never tell a buyer that he or she is wrong, but all the time acknowledge in such a way that the buyer knows that you understand where he or she is advent from. This is best achieved by listening to what the buyer has to say and request questions for clarification.

Step 3: Ask the buyer this question: "What would you have us do?" This puts the monkey on the customer's back to tell you what would be fair. It still doesn't mean that you are going to do what has been suggested, but you give the buyer an opportunity to offer an opinion.

Step 4: Get input from others whom you respect before you respond.

Ask your supervisor's opinion, a well-respected salesperson or even a fellow businessperson you respect.

What you're seeing for here are alternatives to both keep the buyer and to avoid putting your company in jeopardy.

Caution: Sometimes doing the "right thing" is not sufficient to keep a customer. So guess what it will cost you in terms of gross behalf dollars if you and the buyer cannot come to terms.

I recall a Colorado lumberyard employer who supplied redwood fascia to a residential constructor for his personal home. While the lumberyard did not Supply the paint or the painter, the painter that they constructor selected used water-based paint on the fascia. When the grain swelled, the constructor demanded that the dealer replace the fascia.

The lumberyard was clearly not responsible and the builder's request was absurd. However, the employer made the decision to replace the fascia because he knew that the constructor was the kind of person who would punish him by taking his company elsewhere if he didn't meet the his demands.

What is the right thing to do and what will keep the buyer may not all the time be the same. In this case, the employer looked upon the cost of replacing the redwood fascia as an investment. His goal was to do anyone was important to ensure that he would preserve this customer's business.

What Happens When You Are Sued Over Old credit Card Debt?

What Happens When You Are Sued Over Old credit Card Debt?

Have you received a summons for breach of contract on an old credit card debt? Or, do you have collectors calling you daily and threatening to bring legal action? For many "junk debt collectors" bringing about lawsuits over old credit card debt (that has likely been expensed off, leading you to believe that you are "untouchable") has come to be big business.

What Happens When You Are Sued Over Old credit Card Debt?

What Happens When You Are Sued Over Old credit Card Debt?

What Happens When You Are Sued Over Old credit Card Debt?

If you are like the majority of American's out there who are being hounded by creditors you likely ignore their calls and letters reasoning they will finally go away. Wrong. The new breed of junk debt buyers will Serve You With A Complaint Summons!

What's a junk debt buyer?

There are many, many of these associates and they all go by separate names and aliases. associates can buy expensed off debt from your primary lender for pennies on the dollar. It's not uncommon for these debts to be bought & sold over, and over, and over again.

What does this mean?

Well, say you had an old credit card from 1999 that you defaulted on and finally stopped paying. The primary creditor (Oc) Charges off the debt, closes their books and sells Your debt to a third-party junk debt buyer (Jdb). The Jdb pays pennies on the dollar for your debt.

If you agree to decide for even half of the debt (if you are going to pay a collector, always negotiate down the debt, they'll often decide for 70% of the primary estimate because they are still making Huge profits!) the Jdb is still making an obscene behalf off of You.

However...there is Good News if you have one or more of these Jdb's after you. They are banking on the fact that the majority (some estimation it to be as high as 97%) of Americans who are sued over old credit card debt do not show up for their hearing date and do not try to fight the lawsuit in any way. Even if you do owe the debt, this is the worse thing you can do!

Here's the scoop....

If a creditor has determined that you are a good anticipation for paying on your debt and you have failed to respond to their demands for cost you will then be Moved to their "legal department".

Many of these junk debt buyers or variety agencies have retained law firms that are basically variety agencies masquerading as law firms. They normally have one legitimate lawyer working for them and the rest of the employees are just plain old variety agents. All these Jdb's have to do is file a Complaint (typically for Breach of Contract) with the civil or district court in the county where you reside. They will pay a nominal fee and a process server to deliver the Summons to you in person.

You Can Be Served At Your Workplace Or Home!

You generally only have (20) days to respond to the Summons with an Answer, which is a document that must be filed in man at the justice building by You and a copy sent Certified Mail, Return Receipt to the attorney representing the creditor.

If you Do Not respond With An respond Within 20 Days (Of The Date You Were Served) a Default Judgement is entered against you And this gives the accumulator the Green Light to ice Your Bank inventory And ornament Your Wages!

Note: Often the "collection attorneys" are junk debt buyers themselves and nothing else but own the debt.

Most Breach of contract lawsuits are filed in civil court, Not small claims. The creditors are smart and know that in the civil courts You must be represented by a lawyer or you can laid out yourself buy must result thorough rules and procedures of the court. This is called being a "Pro Se" litigant.

A "Pro Se" litigant must file proper legal pleadings and laid out themselves just as a lawyer would. It's nothing else but quite uncomplicated but you can understand why this scares off so many litigants and why civil judges often spend one or two afternoons a week going straight through complaints and granting default judgements because Very Few defendants know how to/nor have the time to form out how to respond within the (20) day time-frame.

If a Default Judgement is entered (which happens over 90% in these cases because population don't have the time and knowledge to fight back!) your creditor Automatically Wins The Lawsuit!

The creditor doesn't even have to show up to court and Often Do Not! Your Failure To respond With An respond Automatically Grants The Judgement To The Plaintiff (The Creditor)!

Over 90% of credit card debt lawsuits end in default judgement because the defendant does not appear and/or does not respond with an Answer. This is a Goldmine for the creditors!

They expect you Not To Fight Back and are nothing else but banking on the fact that over 90% of debtors roll over and accept the judgement. Frequently the amounts these associates are suing over have been ridiculously inflated and they have No Records to back up their claims, additionally they are Notorious for violating the Fair Debt variety Practices Act and for trying to regain on out-of-statute debts. The statute-of-limitations on debt variety can range from 3 years to 10 dependent on your state's regulations. You can nothing else but Google the Sol for your state.

If you respond with an proper "Answer" within the required time-frame (generally 20 days) your chances of their Dropping The Lawsuit are Very Good! They don't want to nothing else but fight you in court, that costs them time & money. And, they Often don't have any kind of records to substantiate their claims.

When the Jdb's purchase debts they receive minimal information. In many cases, the actual credit card contract you signed (and statements) is unavailable as the primary creditors complete the books on your inventory years ago. Additionally, You never signed any kind of contract with the variety agency.....this is another defense that you can raise.

If you're still hesitant to fight back, reconsider this:

They'll be monitoring your credit article electronically....any purchases or even requests for credit will raise a red flag. They will know if you've bought a new car, house, boat, or whatever of value that they can put a lien against.

You Need To Avoid A Default Judgment At All Costs! It Will Ruin Your credit For A Minimum Of 7-10 Years!

The Good News -

I was served with a summons for breach of contract in May of 2007. I immediately began Researching....And Researching......And Researching.

I'm a middle-class man who ran up some debt in my early twenties. I made sporadic payments not realizing the detrimental result that it was having on my credit report. All told I believe I nothing else but expensed about ,000 on a Visa card. My inventory was turned over to discrete collectors where I would make one or two large payments and then I wouldn't hear anything....and then another one of these collectors would crop up. I finally stopped paying. The sporadic payments I was making weren't even making a dent as they just kept adding Charges onto my balance.

With all the late fees, over limit fees, and interest Charges I felt like I had probably paid them well over what I originally owed and at the time I just couldn't keep up. They pretty much dropped off the face of the earth for many years and I forgot about it. I got married, bought a house (with a terribly high interest rate), car, had Kids, etc......and then last May some beater car pulls up to my house and delivers me a Summons while I'm outside Watching my daughter ride her bike. It was very unsettling. I was being sued for ,000 plus legal fees and I had 20 days to respond with an Answer. The wording was such that I could tell the "collection attorney" expected me to just accept the judgment.

So, I began my Researching, it's not easy, but So worth it. I began researching at the law library, poring over legal message boards, Nolo law books, and credit mend blogs and websites. I spoke with an extremely helpful court clerk who gave me the real dirt on how these associates control and I was fortunate sufficient to consult with a consumer affairs lawyer.

All of my work paid off and my creditor dropped their lawsuit.

Regardless of your exact situation, the first step is to File An Answer. Your creditor will whether drop the lawsuit or you will be granted a court date. In all likelihood, the creditor won't show up for the court-date (granting you self-acting dismissal) and if they do, you'll be in a good position to negotiate a village or cost plan with them.

Utilize the internet, there are many, many folks in the same boat as yourself. There are many helpful message boards which are a good place to start.

Try to remember that even though the debt is yours, you have every right to have their claims against you substantiated. These associates are making a colossal behalf off of hard working Americans and you owe it to yourself and your financial time to come to face the music and fight your lawsuit as best you can.

Unethical business Practices

Unethical business Practices

Bad press and lawsuits are things that every business owner fears. Bad press can ruin your reputation, as well as your business, and lawsuits can bankrupt you. The easiest way to avoid both of these situations is to avoid unethical business practices. There are very easy ways to avoid unethical business practices.

Unethical business Practices

Unethical business Practices

Unethical business Practices

Unethical business Practices

Unethical business Practices

First, cleave to the old standby that honesty is the best policy. Be honest in all of your business dealings, either it concerns vendors, customers, or employees. This also means that you need to use honesty when reporting income and expenses, when paying employees and vendors, and when disclosing information to customers.

When you are faced with a complaint, either that complaint comes from a customer, a vendor, an employee, or the community, the complaint needs to be dealt with head on. Burying your head in the sand, and hoping that the problem will go away will only serve to make the situation worse, and because you are responsible, this isn't the ethical way to deal with problems. Never try to spin your own version of the truth to make the problem not look as bad as it precisely is. This will only damage your credit in the long run.

When many fellowships are using unethical business practices, instead of trying to accurate the problem, they try to cover it up. They will even go as far as paying loads of money on advertising and communal relations to try to hide the problems at hand. Again, this is an unethical business practice, and it should be avoided. When mistakes are made, address them clearly, apologize, do better, and Move on. The community as a whole will respect you a great deal more for this than they will if you do nothing, or try to hide a problem, only to be found out later.

Ethical business issues often arise that have dinky to do with the workplace, but a great deal to do with the goods that is being sold. It could be that there are dangers with the goods that were only recently discovered. If you are practicing ethical business, you will apprise the communal about these dangers, and depending on the extent of the danger, you may need to recall the goods - even if it means losing some money, and losing some business in the future. Recall the goods and fix the problem, and you will avoid a loss of your reputation, as well as lawsuits. When you recall a product, you get press, but because you took the approved ethical action, it isn't considered to be bad press.

Placing blame is an additional one issue. When problems occur, it seems that a businesses first instinct is to look for someone to blame, instead of taking responsibility for the problem themselves. Not only is this unethical, it is roughly childish in nature, and it does dinky to instill trust in the public, in employees, or in vendors. If the issue arose because of a mistake that an laborer made, depending on the seriousness of the problem, the laborer may be fired, but it is unethical for the business to name that employee. In the public's eyes, it is the business that made a mistake, and not an employee.

Again, there are many unethical business practices that crop up in the business world on a day-to-day basis. For your particular business, it is leading to constantly monitor yourself and your employees to ensure that you are operating above board, and that unethical business practices are dealt with immediately, in the best possible way.

Book length - average length of a Non Fiction Book

Book length - average length of a Non Fiction Book

One of the questions that new writers all the time ask is "How long should my non-fiction book be?" In this report I'm going to attempt to retort that question.

Book length - average length of a Non Fiction Book

Book length - average length of a Non Fiction Book

Book length - average length of a Non Fiction Book

Book length - average length of a Non Fiction Book

Book length - average length of a Non Fiction Book

However, part of the presume that new writers find it difficult to pin down an retort is because the retort is so difficult. It isn't as level send as it seems.

First off, you need to make two decisions. Specifically, you need to decide what type of book you will be writing and how you will be publishing that book. For example, are you going to write an eBook and give it away as a bonus? Or are you going to sell it on Amazon? Are you going to write a beloved how-to and use a traditional publisher? Or are you going to write a textbook and sell it through university bookstores?

The form of the book often dictates the size of the book. While the topic will have a great deal of influence, there are many other elements you need to take into account. Many of these are marketing related.

First off, you need to fabricate a standard distance of a page. Some writers will claim there is only one standard distance of a page. Unfortunately, they never agree on what the standard is! Typically, fiction uses 250 words per page, although 300 is also a base value. Non-fiction typically has longer sentences and less white space because it doesn't have dialogue. 300 to 500 words are sometimes used as the yardstick, although 250 is also used. Personally, I, somewhat arbitrarily, use 250. But like all the numbers when discussing book length, you should reconsider them as yardsticks rather than firm numbers.

Now that we have the distance of a page -- even an arbitrary one -- we can go on to assessment the size of books and articles.

Take a look in your firm library. You will find that almost all your books are more than 100 pages long (about 25,000 - 50,000 words depending on your style). By fiction standards that is carefully very short - novella size in fact. In fiction, a short book is in the middle of 50,000 to 80,000 words (roughly 200 - 300 pages in paperback). Although Science Fiction and some other genres have been creeping up and can now exceed 400 pages (200,000 words). A typical "popular" firm book runs 25,000 to 75,000 words. Over that size is the territory of the schoraly or technical firm book.

Typically you will find that books groups simply after about 100 pages. The presume for this is related to the pricing of a print run. The cost to yield each book is related to the format size (e.g. Trade paperback, paperback, letter etc.), the binding, and the estimate of pages. This latter tends to be priced at the 100 page mark so beloved lengths tend to come in multiples of 100. For example most short fiction runs at 200 pages (about 50,000 words (romance, westerns etc.). The next step is long fiction at 300 pages (about 75,000 words). Extra long is usually around 400 pages (100,000 words) although it can go beyond.

Ultimately, you need to check the local bookstore to decide the standard size. You'll find that definite markets have a beloved size (or sizes). Some publishers will also list their preferences in directories like Writers' Market, although most now prefer to make the writer guess.

Of course, what you wish the distance to be, and what the actual distance will be can be quite different.

10 Secrets For Writing Killer Complaint Letters

10 Secrets For Writing Killer Complaint Letters

Complaint letters aren't always fun, but sometimes they need to be written. In many cases, if citizen don't complain, the problem department at fault (i.e. Company or government) won't even know that the problem that you and others may have experienced even exists.

10 Secrets For Writing Killer Complaint Letters

10 Secrets For Writing Killer Complaint Letters

10 Secrets For Writing Killer Complaint Letters

Ultimately, legitimate complaints, by even a few people, can (and often do) ensue in great aid for everybody. Not only that, writing complaint letters can be personally useful too!

That's right. Writing complaint letters can be an emPowering and therapeutic experience! It allows one to take performance instead of playing the role of a victim and "nursing" an ongoing resentment towards a Company about poor aid or rehabilitation received. Once the complaint letter is written and in the mail one can "let it go" knowing that one has done something tangible and constructive about the situation.

Not only that, but properly written and handled complaint letters get action!

After I started writing complaint letters, I began receiving gracious letters of apology and contrition from senior executives together with bank vice-presidents and Vps of marketing for giant corporations.

Getting those in the mail, felt one heck of a lot great than "polishing" an ongoing resentment and getting even angrier the next time something bad happened. Sometimes I even get reduction coupons and free merchandise!

The 10 Secrets

Here are some strategies I have learned for writing complaint letters guaranteed to get attention and action.

1. Write To The Senior someone Responsible

It is foremost that you get the name and detailed mailing address of a very senior someone responsible for the stock or aid that you are complaining about. I generally try to write to the V.-P. Level. Never go below Director level if you want a serious response. Name and address information can be obtained from the organization's Web site or by calling the Company and asking for the name and title of the senior someone who you should write to.

2. Don't Send An E-Mail

When it comes to sending a serious complaint letter to a Company or the government, don't send an e-mail, regardless of what it may say on their Web site. E-mails are usually handled dismissively by low level "customer service" people. If you want serious attention and action, the formal written complaint letter is the only way to go. When it arrives in the Vp's office (yes, by snail mail!), it triggers a bureaucratic process that ensures that the right citizen will see your letter, and will act on it.

3. Keep It As Short As Possible

Preferably no longer than one page, two at the most. When drafting a complaint letter there can be a tendency to go on and on just to make sure the recipient gets the point. Keep it as short as possible, but without diluting the facts of your message too much.

4. Give It A Heading For Identification

Place a heading at the top of the letter with information that the Company or department will relate to, such as your catalogue estimate or buyer number. Make it easy for them to find you on their computer filing system.

5. Clearly illustrate The Situation

Make sure that you give all of the specific details needed so that the Company or department can verify your claim without you having to get into an endless game of telephone tag with them. Include specific dates, times and places, as well as the names of citizen you dealt with. If you're not sure of these details when composing the letter, call them back and ask for the specifics. (You don't have to say it's for a complaint letter).

6. Use A definite And Respectful Tone

I have found that the best advent is to use a definite upbeat tone. Remember, you are writing to a senior someone who probably sympathizes with what happened to you. Your tone should convey the message that you are the innocent victim and you understand that the Company wouldn't have done such a thing deliberately.

7. Send Copies If Appropriate

There can be cases where it is wise to send a copy of the letter to other parties just to make sure that you will get some serious action. For example, in a case where you have been told to write to the Regional boss of a program, it is often a good idea to make sure that someone in head office also gets a copy. I sometimes send a copy to buyer aid or buyer relations offices at the national level.

8. "Shame" Them As Much As Possible

Companies that claim and advertise high levels of buyer focus and aid do not like to be criticized in those areas. If you have a strong case that makes them vulnerable in one of these areas, use as much ammunition as you can to embarrass them in these sensitive areas. Modern marketing terms such as: buyer association administration (Crm), one-to-one marketing, most primary buyer (Mvc), and customer-centric focus, all tend to get their attention. Also, using such terms makes you sound like an authority.

9. Imply You Might Take Your Company Elsewhere

I always do this near the closing. Companies don't like to lose customers, especially long-time customers. Senior marketing citizen are well aware that study after study has shown that it costs five to seven times as much to recruit a new buyer as it does to hold on to an existing one.

10. Ask For An Early Reply

In the closing paragraph of your complaint letter, state specifically that you are expecting an early reply. Make sure that you follow-up by phone or e-mail if you have heard nothing in three weeks. Some Companies will send you an acknowledgement letter stating that they are working on your case and will get back to you within a week or two.

Use the above strategies and you are sure to get performance from your complaint letters. And, don't forget the old truism "the squeaky wheel gets the grease"!

Debt Cures divulge - Is Kevin Trudeau's most recent Book A Scam?

Debt Cures divulge - Is Kevin Trudeau's most recent Book A Scam?

Anyone staying up late at night has probably seen an infomercial promoting one of Kevin Trudeau's most recent "cures" books - weight loss cure and natural cures. I saw the infomercial for his most recent one, Debt Cures, and wanted to see what it was about. This record will highLight my caress with ordering Debt Cure$.

Debt Cures divulge - Is Kevin Trudeau's most recent Book A Scam?

Debt Cures divulge - Is Kevin Trudeau's most recent Book A Scam?

Love him or hate him, Kevin Trudeau pushes people's buttons and gets them talking. Type in the title of one of his books and you'll see several complaints about his practices and then you'll also see some habitancy praise his books.

So I was skeptical about this new book and wanted to offer a review.

I do not like ordering on the phone because the habitancy on the other line have to try and sell you stuff related to the goods you are purchasing because it is their job but when I ordered Debt Cures online I can dream how bad it was for the habitancy who have to call in.

The book sells for .95 and .95 shipping and handling. Why so much for shipping and handling? Amazon can give you free shipping for orders over so why does this book cost so much to ship?

On the website, debtcures.com, it says due to higher shipping costs, higher fuel costs and inflation that they have to fee higher shipping and handling costs.

Alright fine. So after I order the book, I expect to be upsold a few other items. And I was not let down. On the website, Kevin Trudeau tried to sell me 5 additional products that if you bought would add over 0 to your order. That to me does not sound like a way to get out of debt. Not off to a good start.

Two weeks later the book arrives in a small box just like in one of the boxes you get from Amazon when you order some books.

The infomercial states that you'll learn stuff that has never been revealed before in any place else about the prestige and lending industry. After just reading the first 2 chapters I would have to disagree. Most of the stuff he wrote about is available for free online.

One of the main points of the first two chapters is that the banks, prestige card companies, and the federal government are all in cahoots to try and keep you and me in debt so we can keep manufacture them rich. This part is true. The prestige card associates love it when you just make the minimum payments on your bills. They do not want you to get out of debt. They especially like it when you miss your payment or go over the limit so they can compare a hefty fee and even raise your interest rate.

This is all true and can be read about on many prestige related websites.

He talks about the practices of the banks and prestige card associates and how the government lets them get away with Charging high interest rates and fees because they conduce money to their campaigns. Reading these episode will get you mad if you are not already at how much debt you have and how the lenders try and squeeze more money out of you.

Chapters 4 and 5 are where Kevin Trudeau starts to deliver on his Debt Cures promises. He offers actionable points on how to eliminate your debt, negotiate your debt down and reduce your interest rates. Some of this is also available online elsewhere but in the folksy way that Kevin talks, he makes it easy to understand and easy to take action by providing examples of what to do and say.

If you have a few thousand dollars and debt and use one of these methods to lower the number you have to pay then the cost of the book is already paid for even if you are overCharged for shipping and handling.

In a follow up article, I will cover the remaining chapters of the book and point out the remaining good and not so good points.

Debt Cures has a passing vote so far even though Mr. Trudeau has a less than stellar reputation. But do no let that get in the way of getting help with your debt problems. This book and others like it can furnish practical solutions to lowering what you owe and getting you out of the many burdens debt can put you in.

Proofreading practice - Three Needles in a Haystack

Proofreading practice - Three Needles in a Haystack

Many proofreading practice make the mistake of confronting the student proof reader with errors in abundance. Every other line contains a spelling error, grammatical gaffe or stylistic slip-up. In reality, however, you're unlikely to find more than two or three errors in any document, particularly if said document has been produced by expert page make-up artists or seasoned typesetters. These overloaded proofreading exercises give the nascent proof reader a false anticipation when they start their careers; when they don't find themselves pinpointing ten to twenty errors per page, they think they must have missed something and self-doubt begins to set in.

Proofreading practice - Three Needles in a Haystack

So, the following piece of copy contains just three errors. As with any proofreading exercise, you may find the occasional grammatically intuit clause or a phrase that makes you a wee queasy. However, it's important to remember that your job as a proof reader is to find literal errors and eradicate any lack of clarity, not to indulge in hair-splitting over the occasional split infinitive or dangling modifier.

Allow yourself no more than ten minutes to perfect this exercise.

Keep Your Pet Safe from the Dangers of Heatstroke

It is now, thankfully, a widely recognised fact that dogs left alone in cars can come to be the tragic victims of the kind of weather that commonly has most of us rejoicing. Agreeing to up-to-date evidence, when the external temperature is 72 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature within a car can rise to as much as 117 degrees Fahrenheit in just one hour. For this reason, all responsible dog owners plan ahead, to make sure wherever there going provides enough provision for their favorite pet.

However, the emphasis on the dangers presented by leaving dogs in cars has lulled many pet owners into a false sense of safety when it comes to protecting their pet from the hazards of hot weather. There is now, unfortunately, a normal consensus that our pets are safe in hot weather, just so long as they are not confined to a vehicle.

Nothing could be added from the truth. Either or not your dog is in a car, they are vulnerable to heatstroke if they are unable to effectively cool down. Some dogs are more prone than others. For example,

• dogs with long hair

• thick-set and heavily muscled dogs

• very young dogs

• very old dogs

Dogs who are suffering from a singular medical complaint or are receiving prescription medication may also be more at risk. However, it is a fact that all dogs can be potential victims of heatstroke. Luckily, there are a amount of very easy things you can do to cut the risk to you're pet. Avoid taking your dog out in hot weather at all, if you can. Restrict their practice time to the early morning or later in the evening, when it tends to be cooler.

If you do have to take your dog out in the heat, and you find you have to leave them in a singular spot for any reason, make sure there is fullness of shade, and leave a large bowl of drinking water. Make sure the bowl has a heavy base, so that it is less likely to be accidentally spilled or knocked over entirely.

When out walking with your dog in hot weather, carry a large bottle of water with you. Periodically, you can give this water to your dog. wee and often is the key here, retention dehydration well and truly at bay. Make sure your dog is well-groomed to reMove surplus hair. You wouldn't go out in the heat wearing an overcoat, would you?

If, for whatever reason, your dog has come to be exposed to inordinate heat and you are concerned they may be suffering from heatstroke, here are the symptoms you need to be on the lookout for: abnormally heavy panting, inordinate salivation, vividly red gums and tongue and, in very severe cases, diarrhoea and vomiting. If you encounter any of these symptoms you need to seek veterinary aid immediately, whilst cooling your pet as much as potential with cool water (never use very cold water, as this may induce shock). But, as always, stoppage is good then cure. Keep your pet out of the heat wherever possible.

The Proofreading Exercise, Solution

Did you spot our three howlers?

That's right, the first mistake was in the opening paragraph. The sentence that reads, 'For this reason, all responsible dog owners plan ahead, to make sure wherever there going provides enough provisions for their favorite pet', should read, 'For this reason, all responsible dog owners plan ahead, to make sure wherever they're going provides enough provisions for their favorite pet'.

The second mistake is tucked away in the seventh paragraph. 'Luckily, there are a amount of very easy things you can do to cut the risk to you're pet' should read 'Luckily, there are a amount of very easy things you can do to cut the risk to your pet'.

And I've deliberately concealed the third error in the final paragraph. Were you starting to think you'd missed it? 'But, as always, stoppage is good then cure. Keep your pet out of the heat wherever possible' should, of course, read, 'But, as always, stoppage is good than cure. Keep your pet out of the heat wherever possible'. If you successfully completed this proofreading exercise, congratulations! You may have what it takes to come to be a proof reader.

Book delineate of How to Win Friends and work on citizen by Dale Carnegie

This is a book recapitulate of Dale Carnegie's all time international first-rate How to Win Friends and work on People. It is a fairly large recapitulate with the occasional "diversion" from the topic because I feel it is suitable for this first-rate book.

The original version of this book was written in 1937 with just 5,000 copies in print. It didn't take long for the word to spread around the globe about the value contained within the book for millions of copies to be printed at later dates. The book has spread like wildfire since 1937 with over 16 million copies in print. Company owners, salespersons, and generally habitancy who are concerned in better relating to their fellow human being, have permanently referred to How to Win Friends and work on People over the years as the best book you can read on the subject.

If you're not surely familiar with self-help classics, you may be wondering how the heck can books written in the early-to-mid 1900s be useful today? surely humanity has made many more great discoveries that are far first-rate than this "old school" material?

I use to think the exact same thing prior to reading such books. However, there is something to do with learning about a branch from the core, the nectar, the heart of its original pioneers that makes the data so Powerful. I have surely heard hundreds of habitancy praise How to Win Friends and work on People. Originally, I view it was because the book was most people's introduction to transportation skills. I thought, "Sure, the book is great because it's your first palpate in learning the spectacular, supervene of good communication."

What I later found, which is what many habitancy have experienced, is that by reading the book one time every year you palpate a noteworthy new realization. Life-changing realizations are also often experienced by many habitancy when reading Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich. The awareness and palpate you have at the gift time isn't enough to completely grasp the law in these first-rate books.

After reading the 2008 edition of this book, I've come to comprehend that the book's four parts which deal with techniques to cope people, ways to make habitancy like you, winning habitancy to your way of thinking, and being a successful leader, are the basal skills of all human relations. I permanently teach these law without realizing it because they are so basal to relationships. The very prominent point I'd like to distinguish here is that fundamentals are not necessarily basic skills. Fundamentals in any area form a solid framework for additional skill development.

An athlete cannot become good in his or her sport by not having definite fundamentals. Sport coaches will tell you that an athlete who does not have the right fundamentals is tough to coach because every skill builds off the foundation laid by basal skills. Professional athletes permanently fine tune their basal skills because they know the profound work on such skills have on their Professional abilities. Developed techniques are only useful when the someone knows the fundamentals. Also, having good fundamentals produces an exponential supervene that puts you ahead of 95% of people, while Developed techniques in any area produces a tiny revising that gives you an edge of the 5% who also have sound fundamentals.

Tiger Woods can work on perfecting his 2 iron stinger where he hits the ball with a very low trajectory, while the median golfer is better off focusing on fundamentals like a better grip, stance, and pre-shot routines. However, Tiger still needs to monitor and work on these fundamentals as well. The skills taught in How to Win Friends and work on People permanently need to be revisited and worked on regardless of how good you think you are at communicating.

At the start of each chapter, Carnegie discusses the chapter's principle. He then provides an example of how someone, mostly students from his speaking course, have applied the principle in their Company or house life. The stories themselves can be a revelation at times as you become aware of how and in what situations the law can be applied.

The majority of the book discusses concepts instead of word-for-word techniques. One principle is development the other someone feel important. Dale doesn't tell you to say exactly this and that. He provides the "what," which is the concept, with a tiny bit of the "how."

Teachers - What to Do When a Parent Complains

Teachers - What to Do When a Parent Complains

As a teacher, you want to do what is best for your student's education. As a parent of a student, you want to make sure their studying process is the best it can be. Sometimes these two worlds can collide and teachers may have to deal with parent complaints about their child's education.

Parent complaints can be for a number of reasons: too much homework, the coursework is too hard, possibly a class bully seems to be getting away with something that the teacher may not even be aware of, and as a teacher, it's best to work with parents to rule this issues as best as possible.

If a parent complains about an issue going on in school, it's prominent to listen politely, and indubitably hear what they have to say. Their complaint may be completely valid and prominent to address. Once the complaint has been made, it's prominent to take operation and fix the problem and restore their trust in you and your teaching.

It's prominent not to come to be defensive when taking a parent quiz, or complaint. Battling it out with a parent can make things uncomfortable with you, your students, and their parents.

As a proactive way of avoiding parent complains, think taking these few steps so that there's an insight from the get-go.

1. Send an facts packet home by the second week of the school year. This packet will include a classroom supervision plan, homework policy, and restroom procedure. Since these are the most popular complaints with parents, telling them up front what should be thinkable, in your class will help avoid any hereafter issues.

2. include a signature slip at the lowest of the last page of the packet and ask that the parent sign it. This slip will say that the parent or guardian has read, understood, and acknowledged the facts packet. Hold onto those slips in a file for the remainder of the school year.

3. During "open house" or "back to school night" present that packet with the parents, and open the room up for a Q&A session if parents have any questions or are confused by anyone you may have written.

4. Advance reports and maintaining a constant transportation with your students' parents will also be beneficial. Let the parents know under what circumstances they will be contacted, and don't be afraid to send home Advance reports each month detailing how your students are doing in the classroom.

By being proactive in the way you administrate your classroom, you will find that your parent complaints will be less and less. As long as you do address any concerns that may arise, you will be able to Supply your students and their parents a school year or mutual respect and a proper education.
